On 10 February 2017, LaSalle College Surabaya held an event of Grand Opening of its New Campus. It was an honor to have H.E. Peter MacArthur, the Ambassador of Canada to Indonesia along with staff from the Canadian Embassy: Hélène Viau, The Head of Political Program and Crystal Larm, Trade Commissioner and First Secretary (Commercial). Also present Wely Kustono and Julia Pangkey from Canadian Education International.
Hariyadi Sukamdani (LCI shareholder), Mario Poulin (LaSalle College Indonesia Country Director) and Pranakusuma Sudhana (Principal of LaSalle College Surabaya) proudly hosted the event which was also attended by direct and indirect partners, vendors, education agents, teachers and staff.
Before proceeding to the main occasion, all VVIP guests including Mr. Ambassador had the chance to have a campus tour witnessing the latest development of the only Canadian based education campus in Surabaya, the hub of Eastern Indonesia. The main event was prepared in a traditional East Java way. All guests were therefore in Batik (traditional colored design textile) dress code.
The agenda was started by a performance called Remo, a welcoming dance for very important people. Some speeches were then given and finalized by an encouraging remarks from the Ambassador. It then came the most awaited moment of ribbon cutting pleasantly done by Mr. Ambassador. The ceremony was then continued with sharing from one of the longest-serving teacher, Ms Lina Kumala (Interior Design) and presentation of the glass miniature of Surabaya City symbol to Mr. Ambassador. Dinner was then served with Henky Wijaya (International Recruitment Manager - Asia Pacific) presented the latest news from the Art Institute of Vancouver. The evening was closed by a fashion trunk show presenting the Great Gatsby 1920s collection from the students of LaSalle College Surabaya.
